Perri Arnette “Pebbles” McKissack (born August 29, 1964) is an American dance-pop and urban contemporary singer-songwriter. “Pebbles,” a childhood nickname, sold more than six million albums worldwide, and received a Grammy nomination and numerous songwriting and performance awards. In February 2011, McKissack was named the executive producer/host of Essence’s national R&B search.
In 1987 McKissack released Pebbles, a self-titled solo debut for MCA Records, which went platinum-plus and featured the hits Girlfriend and Mercedes Boy, both Top Five Pop and #1 R&B hits. In 1990 McKissack released her second album, Always, which included the Top Five hit Giving You The Benefit, as well as Always and Love Makes Things Happen.
McKissack had an early brush with industry success in the early 1980s as a backup singer for percussionist/band leader Bill Summers and the funk outfit Con Funk Shun, and co-wrote Body of Lover, one of that band’s biggest hits. Pebbles also sang background vocals on Paula Abdul’s debut album Forever Your Girl in 1988. In 1989, McKissack formed the Atlanta-based production company Pebbitone, which discovered and developed the R&B trio TLC. In 1997, McKissack, under her new nickname Sister Perri, founded WOGCL (Women of God Changing Lives) Ministries.
McKissack was married to George Smith, the lead singer of Con Funk Shun, from 1983 to 1990, and they had a daughter, Ashley Victoria Smith, also known as Ashley Winzer and Ashley Reid. In 1989, McKissack married Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who co-founded LaFace Records with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds that same year. Their son Aaron Alexander was born in November 1989. They divorced in 1996. McKissack married Otis Nixon in Nassau, Bahamas in 2000; they divorced in 2004. On August 25, 2012, McKissack married Excel Sharrieff, an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles. -Wikipedia
