Angela Sue Rypien (born October 22, 1990) is an American athlete. She is currently the quarterback for the Seattle Mist of the Lingerie Football League. The 2011-2012 season marked Rypien’s first year in the league, where she became a rookie starter for the Seattle Mist franchise, who began play in 2009. Angela was born in Reston, Virginia to Mark Rypien, a two time pro bowler and Super Bowl XXVI MVP for the Washington Redskins, and Annette Rypien, a former NFL cheerleader also for the Washington Redskins. Angela graduated from Lewis and Clark High School, and later from Paul Mitchell cosmetology school in Los Angeles, California. She currently resides in Seattle, Washington and works as a stylist at Nordstrom during the off time from football. She has a two-year-old daughter named Malayah. Angela’s cousin Rick Rypien is a former player for the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL.
Angela decided to pursue a career in the LFL in the autumn of 2010 after seeing a televised game. In November of 2010, she began driving from Spokane to Seattle on the weekends, to work out with the Mist and garner a spot on the roster for the last game. However, the final game ended up getting canceled when the opposing team from Dallas folded their franchise. Eventually, Angela moved to Seattle and joined the Mist in 2011, where she won her opening game 42-8 over the expansion Green Bay Chill, throwing three touchdown passes in a 6 of 16 performance for 81 yards.
Rypien is quoted as always wanting to follow in the footsteps of her father, and says she was very excited to see the newly formed LFL become a growing success. Angela has pursued a number of sports in her lifetime, including soccer, volleyball, hockey, golf, basketball, softball, tennis, track & field, dance, snowboarding, and fishing. In a recent interview, Angela was quoted as saying in regards to her dual professions of being a stylist and a professional football player, ”It’s really funny because I feel like such a girly girl when I am working in cosmetology, because it is. It’s all about women and hair and makeup and fashion and everything like that. And the three nights a week we have practice, I feel like I can throw my sweats on and throw on my tennis shoes and run out the door with a bandana and go to football practice. So they’re definitely complete opposites, but I kind of enjoy that.”

There’s no question in our mind, that with those eyes, that smile, and hair that even Pterelaos himself would have been jealous of, that Angela, not unlike Helen of Troy, could have launched a few thousand ships in her own right. Angela Rypien is without question, the best quarterback in the Lingerie Football League… the problem is, she’s too good. She throws it hard, fast, and with pin-point accuracy. The problem is, often times her receivers cannot catch it. But isn’t that the appeal of any great mythological story?
